We Indians will be celebrating the 74th Independence Day this 2020 like never before. The pandemic caused by CoronaVirus has changed a lot all around over the past few months. People have started finding alternatives to make everything just like before. But it will take time for sure to come out as before. We have been celebrating Independence day every year on the 15th of August since 1947.
The custom is to hoist the national flag on the historical Red Fort by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. After which he/she has to address the nation. There is a firing of 21 gunshots in the honour of the occasion. We pay tribute to the Indian Freedom fighters who made it possible for us to breathe in an independent country. Various programs are being organize by the military forces and school students across the nation to celebrate this big day.
Independence Day Amid Corona
But this year, it would be somewhat different, schools and colleges are not functioning to celebrate this day. There will be no large gatherings due to the COVID-19 crisis. The central govt has issued certain health and safety guidelines as a precautionary measure and prevention against Corona. No children will be allowed to participate in the cultural program for Independence Day.
Home Ministry says in an advisory that Corona Warriors will be invited. Such as our esteemed Doctors, Police Staff, Health & Sanitation workers, recovered patients to attend the Independence Day Ceremony. They all will be getting recognition and gratitude on behalf of the entire nation for their selfless service to mankind amid this crisis.
It is absolutely important to follow the precautions measures while celebrating the Independence day program. Covid-19 cases are still increasing with 2,088,611 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 42,518 deaths, according to the report by WHO(World Health Organization).
This year, we are looking forward to enjoying and celebrating our freedom with Independence Day from the comfort of our home as most of us are doing since lockdown. Watching the live telecast on TV/Smartphone. Paying a tribute to our freedom fighters, our military forces, and especially Corona Warriors at this point in time. Also, we have a chance to fly kites indicating that we are free of all the slavery we once faced. Flying kites has also been not less than a ritual. Most of the people will be at their homes thus able to celebrate Independence Day in their unique ways by cooking, dancing, flying kites, posting videos, and whatever makes sense.
