Saraswati Puja is also known as Vasant Panchami in India, this festival mark the arrival of the spring season. It is celebrated in the different regions of India in various ways, depending on the region. It even marks the preparation of the festival Holi, which occurs after forty days of Sarawati Puja. This year this festival is celebrated on 16th February 2021. This festival is dedicated to goddesses Sarawati who is the goddesses of knowledge, wisdom, art, music and language. She even symbolizes love, peace and a creative energy among the people as well as in the nature. Ater one or two days goddesses goes back, people go for visarjan to the holy water, that is, river Ganga.
This festival is marked as an important day for the young kids, as they are made to write their first word of lesson in their life. It is believed that yellow is the favourite colour of goddesses Saraswati and everything on this has a touch of yellow colour on them. From wearing yellow clothes to serving food with yellow colour touch, this day is made special in different ways according to ones preferences. It is celebrated with bunch of joy and happiness. Every educational institute celebrate this day with worshipping the statue of goddesses Saraswati who is dressed in yellow coloured saree, then a special prayer is made for this day. Hence later there are different cultural programmes that are arranged and towards the end of the celebration, a special prasand is prepared for this day which is distributed among the guests.
On this day, girls are all decked up in yellow coloured saree with complimenting jewelleries, they give a glimpse of goddesses Saraswati from their look. Everyone put their books beside the ideal of goddesses and worship the books as well, it is an important day for a student’s life and for their education. Every student visit their schools and colleges to seek the blessings from goddesses Saraswati in ethnic wear. The puja is held during every morning in the educational institute, we have also seen people arrange this puja in their home as well. But this year due to Covid-19, the educational institutes has limited the number students and teachers entry keeping the safety measures in the mind. Despite of safety protocols students and teachers have visited their respective school and colleges to seek the blessings and worship goddesses Saraswati.
