Weddings are a very intimate affair. However, we share those moments with our family and friends. Every couple wants their wedding to be unique. It could be decor, bride and groom’s outfit, or even the food stalls. That is how trends start, during this pandemic the trends have changed a lot since 2019. We have witnessed e-weddings in 2020, and now in 2021the weddings have already started to look different. Just like everything else many weddings were postponed. Now that things have started moving, weddings have a completely different look. The guest list has been downsized and the ceremonies are more intimate. The couples are making all the arrangements personalized, and spending more per guest to make a better experience for the guests. Back in 2010, couples would be satisfied with a basic wedding package but now things are different. In 2021, we have already seen so many trends that are being followed. Thus, considering the weddings happened so far we are presenting a few trends that have been observed.
- Intimate weddings
We have been observing a close-knit wedding since 2020 and that is bound to happen in 2021 as well. The big fat wedding trend has to stop now. Couples are able to enjoy and live in the moment because of the small guest list. It has got a meaning to celebrate this auspicious day with the closest people in their lives. So, couples getting married during 2021 get ready for the most chilled-out wedding.
- Vocal for local
The wedding is on a small scale there is an opportunity to explore and experiment. As we all know, weddings include tonnes of things like decor, flower arrangements, lighting arrangements, food, invites, and so many other things. All these things come with a hefty price tag. Couples have started giving a chance to the local vendors and also started to choose eco-friendly options. It is small scale, many household decors are being used. These are a few ideas on how to make your wedding eco-friendly.
- Hire decor or use op-shop goodies to dress up your space.
- Create reception signs on old mirrors, doors, timber, or frames.
- Consider a digital invite instead of the traditional posted option.
- Still, want to send an invite? Print it on recycled paper!
- Go plastic-free (you’ll need to work with your vendors on this, but it’s 100% doable).
- Work with your florist to use in-season, locally-sourced florals and foraged greenery.
- In place of gifts, ask your guests to donate to an environmentally-minded charity.
- Support your local designers- Purchase bridal party outfits from local and/or ethical designers.
- Source your wine and beer from local breweries and wineries.
- Use paper or stainless steel straws at the bar.
3. Receptions is the new Wedding
This trend started in the second half of 2020, where couples got married while having a few witnesses and invited the friends and family just for the reception. In times like these, such weddings make more sense. The couple can spend more on the party than at the wedding.
4. Soothing Decor Themes
People are getting used to soothing and minimalist decors, and we have observed it in 2021 as well. Less expensive yet aesthetically pleasing. People have chosen bright poppy colors too, yet maintained the minimalist nature of the event.
5. Tech-savvy Weddings
Due to the pandemic that started in 2020, we were all forced to take a look at how we plan and execute weddings. And it also made us adapt to new ways of communicating during the planning and execution of the wedding. From using video calling apps for planning to utilising live-streaming apps, weddings have embraced the idea of becoming more forward as time is passing by. It’s a boon for all those who wished to include their friends and family in their weddings but couldn’t due to all the restrictions. It only makes everything more memorable.
