Diwali celebrations during Covid

Diwali is just around the corner but it does not feel the same for obvious reasons! Diwali celebration during the times of COVID is going to be a difficult task for every Indian household this year. Although we all have learned to live with it, getting grand celebrations done without risking the lives of people is not going to be easy. But there are some ways you can celebrate Diwali without dimming its light.

Firstly, it’s very important to not host grand Diwali parties like every year. Even though the government has put up restrictions on major public gatherings, small crowd possess the same threats if proper precautions are not taken.

Wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and sanitizing household every now and then is not just important but it is the only vaccine we have available today.

As the COVID virus create respiratory issues, it becomes more important that we do not further deteriorate the quality of air around us by bursting crackers. As stated by experts, the busting of smoky firecrackers can worsen the condition of COVID patients.

Support Local Businesses

However, these are not all of the responsibilities we have as citizens, another major responsibility we have is to make sure we spread happiness. Lockdown in the country has resulted in major job loss and financial crunch. People have also faced salary cuts. It is our moral responsibility that we start supporting local businessmen and vendors.

Buying sweets and snacks locally instead of buying packaged food is another way we can support local businessmen.

This year has been difficult for everyone, we can create happiness just by making small changes in the way we celebrate Diwali.

This Diwali instead of buying diyas online, buy them from the small cart owners who sell them roadside. Buy Diwali gifts from local shop owners. Don’t forget to help your household staff and work staff during these difficult times.

Donate something out of your Diwali budget to the needy.

Visit local shelter homes and buy gifts for them.

Make sure that you make this Diwali a Happy Diwali for everyone!!
