Easy decoration ideas for Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner and it just doesn’t feel like Christmas has begun until you start decorating. And even if you already set up your Christmas tree, there are so many little Christmas decor touches that can turn your home into a winter wonderland — especially if it’s your turn to host the Christmas party this year.

Planning for Christmas is a really big deal to some people – including me! I love celebrating the holidays by ensuring I have the house decked out in the most festive Christmas decorations I can find. From snowmen to Santa Clause, to reindeer to nativity scenes, there is truly an endless amount of Christmas motifs to choose from when decorating the inside of your house for Christmas.

Here are some Christmas decorating ideas that will bring joy to your home this holiday season.

Christmas Tree

It isn’t Christmas without a family Christmas tree. Even if it’s a small one, you can’t celebrate Christmas without installing an evergreen tree to decorate in your family room, with presents stored underneath it! Be sure to purchase a solid tree stand to make sure your tree stands upright and has water to keep it hydrated. Flocked Christmas tree are very in style right now!

Christmas Tree Ornaments

The key to a successful Christmas tree are the decorations. When it comes to Christmas tree Ornaments, you have thousands of choices. You can go with traditional round glass balls, novelty ornaments made of resin or elegant hand-blown ornaments guaranteed to be heirlooms. You want to use a mixture of over-sized, large and medium sized ornaments. Select either silver or gold colored ornament hangers for continuity and to ensure each ornament hangs perfectly on the Christmas tree.

Christmas Tree Skirt

Next up, you’ll need a tree skirt to wrap around the base of your Christmas tree. The skirt will also hold all your Christmas presents so it doesn’t have to be too fancy! Another benefit of having a tree skirt is that it will hold all the little pine needles that fall from your tree over the weeks! Tree skirts can also be baskets, galvanized buckets and other forms. You can get one to match the style of your home.

Festive Ribbons

Ribbons are a wonderful Christmas embellishment for your holiday decorations. You can select ribbons that complement your holiday décor color scheme. For example, if you choose Mardi Gras colors gold, green and purple, select one of the colors for your decorative ribbons.

A garland draped across your mantel is a perfect candidate for festive holiday ribbons. Don’t forget to add one to your wreath on the front door. You can add a ribbon on each end of your porch swing, walkway lamp post or mailbox post. You can use ribbon for tree garland and wrap your tree in ribbon streamers.

Christmas Wreath

The Christmas wreath is an essential part of any Christmas decorating plan. Wreaths are beautiful circular decorations that help to dress up any door they are placed on. You can use a wreath on your front door, as they commonly are found, but also on your interior doors! Hang a festive holiday wreath on your bathroom door to easily direct guests to where it is! Wreaths can be made of evergreen, berries, or other natural materials. The choice is up to you!

Red, White or Pink Poinsettias

Nothing says Christmas is here better than a red, white or pink poinsettia. These iconic symbols of the holiday season usually come with their pots covered in red, green or gold foil paper. You can place a grouping of three or five poinsettias around the fireplace hearth. You may decide to set a pair inside the front door to greet guests or on each end of a console table or sideboard. A Grouping of poinsettias can be place underneath or around the Christmas tree. Several poinsettias on the staircase might be just the festive touch needed.

Santa Claus Figure and Reindeer

Every home should own at least one Santa Claus figure. Santa Claus is a central figure for kids who celebrate Christmas. He brings them their gifts and toys so he should absolutely be represented in your home!

Of course, Santa doesn’t work alone. He has reindeer to help pull his sleigh and get him around the world to deliver presents! Don’t leave Santa alone and purchase a few reindeer figurines to accompany him!

Christmas Garlands

A Christmas garland can immediately transform a room or front door. There are many artificial designs that look very realistic. You may prefer live greenery. Just expect to pay more for live greenery. You may decide artificial garlands are more cost effective since they can be used each year.

You can frame the outside of your front door with a garland. Add a few light strings interwoven with the greenery for a nighttime display. You can also drape garland over your mantel to embellish a Christmas showcase, such as a mantel vignette of Santa, his sleigh and reindeer or candles and mirror candle holders.

Christmas Candles

Candles create the perfect ambiance for the Christmas season. Folklore credits Christmas candles first being used as symbols of the Star of Bethlehem that guided shepherds, kings and travelers to the Christ child in his manger. There are all types of novelty candles as well as scented one’s ideal for Christmas.

Holiday Roping

Holiday roping is a type of garland that can be used in place of garland or with it. There are many various styles and designs for this type of Christmas decoration. You may decide to use a pearl-like beaded roping on your Christmas tree. A gold roping can be intertwined with garland greenery for a mantel, to frame a doorway or draped along a staircase.
